Craft Cubed

Deadline: April 28, 2014 {ONLINE}

Craft Cubed
Craft

Melbourne VIC
August 2014

Craft Cubed is Craft’s annual festival of experimental, skilled and ideas-based craft and design. Featuring exhibitions, installations, open studios, workshops and events, Craft Cubed is a unique umbrella for practitioners and the public to engage with contemporary craft and design. Encompassing a Victoria-wide program, this year Craft Cubed will orbit around core happenings at Fed Square.

Right now, Craft is inviting groups and individuals to express their interest in being actively involved with making Craft Cubed a great festival. We are inviting people to especially reflect on the overarching theme of The Art of Handmade, as well as considering the spaces at Fed Square.

There are three ways to get involved in Craft Cubed 2014:

1. DIY SATELLITE EVENTS

We invite you to propose ideas for satellite events at your venue. DIY Satellite Events are managed and funded by you at your own venue, but are promoted through our Craft Cubed marketing.

Your DIY Satellite Event can occur through-out or anytime during the Craft Cubed festival in August. It can happen in Melbourne CBD or anywhere regional Victoria.

Cost: Listing your DIY Satellite Event is FREE for Craft members ($25 for non-members)

To Apply: Complete the DIY Satellite Event Application: http://www.craft.org.au/See/Craft_Cubed/apply-diy-satellite-event/

2. ACTIVATE FED SQUARE

Craft is now taking proposals to activate some of the different spaces that Craft Cubed will inhabit at Fed Square this August. We will curate a central program that is drawn from your proposals and things we program. If you are selected to be part of the Activate Fed Square program, you will be responsible for presenting the project and working with Craft and the venue regarding onsite logistics.

Some of the spaces around Fed Square that are available for proposal include:

Fed Square Atrium
Fed Square video screens
Fracture Gallery
Yarra Gallery
No Vacancy Gallery Project Space

Detail about these spaces is outlined in the PDF Information sheet: http://www.craft.org.au/CC2014-Fed-Square-Spaces.pdf

3. BLOW OUR MINDS

You might have an idea that is bigger than both of these other options. Let us consider your grand visions for innovative, creative highlights for the Craft Cubed festival program which revolve around our premise of the Art of Handmade.

Giant installations, band program, mega online interactive project? Tell us your craft dreams. Proposals will be considered and supported on a case-by-case basis.
