Sacred Threads 2011

Deadline: March 9, 2011 (ONLINE)

Sacred Threads 2011

Church of the Epiphany
Herndon, VA
June 22 - July 4, 2011

Sacred Threads is an exhibition of quilts exploring themes of spirituality, joy, inspiration, peace/brotherhood, grief and healing. This biennial exhibition was established to provide a safe venue for quilters who see their work as a connection to the sacred and/or as an expression of their spiritual journey.

The objective is to create a dignified exhibition of artwork that touches on both spiritual and personal levels all those who view it. We want to share with others the experiences of quilters whose stories may be a source of healing and strength.

Entries to Sacred Thread Exhibitions are juried in by images for purposes of space and suitability of theme only. Works are not judged.

The 2011 Sacred Threads Exhibition will be held at the Church of the Epiphany in Herndon, VA. This is an Anglican church which welcomes Sacred Threads and is pleased to be the host venue.

The 2011 show will be juried by Sue Reno, Sue Pierce and Diane Herbort.

Sacred Threads is open only to quilters within the United States and Canada. Only quilts or quilted hangings will be considered. A quilt is a fabric sandwich comprised of three layers: a top, a back and filling which are held together with quilting or tying threads. Integration of non-fabric items is acceptable, however, altered books and items mounted on stretcher bars or framed cannot be accommodated.

Quilts submitted should explore themes of joy, spirituality, peace/brotherhood, inspiration, grief, or healing. Quilts must be an original design or an original execution of a traditional pattern. Quilt dimensions must not be less than 12" x 12" nor exceed 72"x 72"and each quilt must have a 4" hanging sleeve and an identifying label on the back of the quilt. Quilts exhibited at previous Sacred Threads exhibits are not eligible.
