A major new annual selling event in the North of England, celebrating the very best in contemporary craft. An excellent opportunity to see and buy the latest works in ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, metal, wood, furniture, paper, basketry and more from the most talented designer-makers in the UK.

The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair will be a high profile, high quality, selected fair, where over 100 cutting edge designermakers will be given the opportunity to sell their work directly to the public and trade. The annual event will be held over 3 days, with a preview evening and awards ceremony, from the 23rd -26th of October 2008 at The Manchester Grammar School. This will be the first event of its kind in the North of England.

Eligibility
The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair will not accept painting, drawing, graphic design or photography.

Applications must be from the designer-maker and work should not be mass produced.

Kelda Savage, Crafts Programme Manager from Manchester Craft and Design Centre
Jo Bloxham, Designer-maker of contemporary jewellery and collector
Jemila Topalian, Artizana Gallery, Cheshire

Costs
Application Fee: £10 to be submitted along with the Application Form.
This fee will go towards covering the administration costs for processing applications and the selection procedure.

Stand Fees: If offered a space, exhibitors must confirm their acceptance with an immediate payment of £100 as the first instalment of their stand fee.
Once paid this acceptance payment will not be refunded. A further 50% of the balance of stand fees is due in August and then the remaining balance is to be settled at least one month prior to the event.

Stand cost are as follows:
New maker (in business for less than 3 years)
1.5M (depth) x 2M (2 sharing) £225 (each)
1.5M x 2M £300
Established maker
1.5M x 2M (2 sharing) £325 (each)
1.5M x 2M £400
A small number of larger stands available on request.
No VAT will be charged on stands.

The Venue
The Manchester Grammar School is a beautiful and historic building perfectly situated between the City centre and its affluent South and beyond to Cheshire. It has a grand approach and 3 spacious, light and airy rooms. It has ground floor access to all rooms and ample free parking for both exhibitors and customers in the grounds and surrounding area. There is a licensed café on site.
