The New Fibers exhibitions seek to exhibit contemporary fiber art in a broad range of forms, from textiles rooted in traditional processes and materials, to sculpture, conceptual, and installation art. We particularly invite non-traditional fiber art.

Eligibility

Participation is open to all artists 18 years and older, living in the United States. Current work (that completed after December 2005) created in all fiber media and/or using fiber techniques is eligible for inclusion. Excepted work cannot have been previously exhibited at the Eastern Michigan University Art Gallery or at the Bonifas Fine Arts Center.

Awards

FAN plans to present first, second, and third place awards. The top award will be $1000.


Entry Procedure

An artist may submit up to three works. Include two slides or high-resolution digital images for each piece (one full view and one detail). Image quality may influence the juror’s decision. Each work should be represented by clearly focused, well-lit images that accurately reflect the work submitted. Your images of accepted work will be reproduced in the catalog and used for publicity.


Entry Fee

$30 for up to three works; FAN member entry fee $25
We’d like to encourage you to join FAN, so you’ll be eligible for the discounted rate, if you join at the time of entry. Dues are $25 per year.


Conditions for Accepted Work

Work must be ready to display with any necessary display instructions included. Work must be available for the entire exhibit. FAN reserves the right to return work which differs significantly from the image presented to the juror. FAN reserves the right to used images of accepted work for publicity, documentation, and educational purposes. Slides and CDs of accepted work will become the property of FAN.


Sales

FAN will retain a 40% commission on sales from the exhibit.

The exhibit opens at the University Art Gallery of Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti and will travel to the William Bonifas Fine Arts Center in Escanaba, Michigan.

The Fiber Arts Network of Michigan is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the fiber arts and sharing news of fiber arts activities among its members. FAN publishes a quarterly newsletter, sponsors an annual networking meeting with a featured speaker, and organizes these biennial exhibits.
