All Oregon artists are invited to participate in CAM Biennial 2006 to be held at the Coos Art Museum from October 20 through November 25, 2006. This exhibition provides artists residing in Oregon the opportunity to exhibit their works to the public within an Art Museum without the extensive curating or jurying process. CAM Biennial 2006 will be displayed throughout all 5 of Coos Art Museum's Galleries.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD: Winner will be given a solo exhibition at CAM in 2007
Voting for a "People's Choice" selection will be conducted by Museum visitors during the entire run of the exhibition through the closing at 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2006. The winner will be contacted by December 1, 2006. Winner's exhibition proposal must meet Coos Art Museum Exhibition's Committee criteria prior to installation at Coos Art Museum in 2007.

ARTISTS ELIGIBITILY: Artists who live in Oregon; recent works 3 years old or less.
Original works of art created in the past 3 years (2004 - 2006) by artists who reside in Oregon are eligible for entry. No commercial artwork, or reproductions of any kind will be accepted.

ELIGIBLE ART MEDIUMS: Allowed with the following criteria

  • Paintings - limitation of 48 inches in any direction - this includes the frame.
  • Drawings - limitation of 48 inches in any direction - this includes the frame.
  • Hand pulled prints, etchings, serigraphs - limitation of 48 inches in any direction - this includes the frame.
  • Photography (film or digital, giclee printing acceptable) - limitation of 48 inches in any direction - this includes the frame.

Modern Art Quilts with Architectural Themes

The 22nd Annual Juried Exhibition


1) The entry must be a quilt or needle art piece–it must have three layers and some quilting must be visible in the images.

2) Designs must have a clear architectural motif expressing the artist's understanding of the exhibit's theme. (Original designs are encouraged.)

3) Can be up to 90" tall and any width.

4) 3-Dimensional work is allowed.


Each entry must be accompanied by an Artist's Statement explaining the artist's inspiration for creating each quilt or needle art piece and how it relates to the architecture theme.


Jurying for Tactile Architectureis in March 2007; the results will be mailed to entrants no later than March 30, 2007. All quilts are juried anonymously—the jury members see the slides, are notified of each quilt's dimensions, materials, and construction methods, and read the Artist's Statement, but are not told the artist's name. Therefore, it is very important that your statement clearly explains your inspiration for the quilt and how it relates to the show's theme of architecture.

Applications are now being accepted for the 5th Annual Craftland, a contemporary craft show located in a retail space in downtown Providence, Rhode Island featuring an eclectic assortment of fine crafts and cutting-edge, quirky handmade items. The sale will take place in December.

What is Craftland?
Craftland is an annual retail store in Downcity Providence. The store features eclectic arts and crafts from artists in New England, and around the country. Particpants are selected through a jurying process.

People visit Craftland to buy gifts ranging from $3-$300. Some artists make limited-edition goodies specifically for Craftland; we've found these sell like hot cakes! Please, no crafts from kits.

Who sells at Craftland?
More than 120 local and far away artists participated in Craftland 2005 -- teenagers to grandmothers, professionals to first-timers.

Do I need to be present to sell my goods?
No. Craftland is a retail store that operates on a consignment basis. Artists will need to drop their merchandise off at Craftland (or mail it if you live out of town), and the Craftland staff, as well as volunteers, will operate the store.

What does it cost to participate in Craftland 2006?
Craftland is a consignment store, and therefore vendors receive a percentage of the retail sale price of their items. Vendors who volunteer 12 hours of their time to help run the Craftland store, will be paid 70% of the retail price of their items, while Craftland will keep 30% of the retail price. Vendors who do not volunteer 12 hours of time will be paid 60% of the retail price, while Craftland will keep 40% of the retail price.

There is also a $10 application fee that is payable at the time you submit your application.

The Space At Alice

The Space at Alice accepts proposals for exhibits on an ongoing basis. These proposals are reviewed twice a year. Artists or Groups of Artists may submit a Proposal to Exhibit Form and samples of work in slide format to the Arts and Business Council of Rhode Island. The Schuylkill Center--Artist in Residence

The purpose of The Schuylkill Center's Artists-in-Residence Program is to enhance awareness and appreciation for the environment through art projects and activities that involve the three components of education, presentation, and production.

Artists are selected based on the quality of their work and proposal statement. Proposals should include a workshop or activity that involves community or school groups. The workshop should address a nature related theme or issues concerning the environment. The workshop component can be for both project driven and/or arts-based learning driven residencies. Project driven proposals should include description of the body of work or piece that the artist is interested in developing. The work can be for both exterior and interior locations. Outdoor installations are especially encouraged.

Arts-based learning proposals should indicate how your art project relates to environment and ecology academic subjects. Artists from all visual arts backgrounds working with nontoxic materials are eligible and include sculpture, painting, mixed media, works on paper, fiber, etc. Selected artists will receive an honorarium, studio space and a housing stipend. The level and amount of stipends are subject to availability of funding.

Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education--The Gallery

The Gallery at the Center is located just inside the main entrance of our main Education Building. We also have a consignment program through our Bookstore/Gift Shop. The Center will take a 30% commission on art sales. The Gallery is approximately 300 sq. ft and is appropriate for one to three person exhibitions of small works.

All 2-3 dimensional wall mounted media are eligible including: paintings, works on paper, fiber arts, mixed media, photography, paper arts and wall mounted sculpture. The Center will host an opening for the selected artist(s) and will promote the exhibition through press release, our organizational web site, quarterly newsletter and exhibition announcements.

Project Row Houses

Project Row Houses is seeking artists for its annual Arts and Music festival. This years festival will take place on October 21-22, 2006.

Kansas Art Quilters: Altered Views

Kansas Art Quilters is dedicated to promoting the art quilt form in traveling exhibits, which educate the public. Kansas Art Quilters: Altered Views is the sixth annual traveling exhibit. Guest Curator Program - Gibbs Gallery

The Gibbs Gallery of the Arlington Center for the Arts accepts proposals for six-week, group exhibitions. Proposals may include work in any visual media and may be organized around any theme or technique. The Gibbs Gallery seeks proposals by both established and emerging artists. The ideas, values, and vision expressed by the curatorial proposal need to be clear and explicit. Experimental work, multimedia work and installations are encouraged but must fit the available space. Curators may include their own work in the exhibit, but it should illuminate or develop the exhibition's concept.

Proposals must include at least two artists, and proposals for 3 or more artists are preferred. To apply to be a guest curator for an exhibition, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Submissions may be sent either via mail or electronically. Please submit:

  1. A brief curator's statement describing your exhibit concept. Include an explanation of how the pieces fit into your vision of the exhibit. In your proposal, translate your idea for the exhibition layout as concretely as possible, particularly if there are 3-D pieces.
  2. A resume for each artist included in the exhibit proposal.
  3. An artist's statement from each artist.

Vortex 2006: A Juried Exhibition - Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse

Vortex: A Juried art exhibition hosted by Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse, challenges Massachusetts artists to submit original and inspirational work that explores the role interconnectivity plays in art. The Blue Men--- who come from the part of us that wants to share, play and experience the simple joy of being alive-- invite all artists to discover and explore the dynamics of interconnectivity in shared communities.

This competition is open to all Massachusetts residents. Work is being accepted in two age categories: 12 to 17 years old and 18+ years old.


The 18+ years old category will have four recipients of cash prizes: $2500 Grand Prize, $1000 Second Prize, and $500 each for Third and Fourth. In addition, the four selected artists' work will be exhibited in the Charles Playhouse lobby for up to one year.

The 12 to 17 year old category will have four recipients of gift certificates for art supplies and have their work on exhibit at the Boston Children's Museum. Grand Prize will also include tuition (up to $500) to art classes.

Window Arts Project - The Somerville Arts Council and ArtsUnion

The Somerville Arts Council and ArtsUnion invite visual artists to submit work for its Windows Arts Project (WAP) 2006. Selected work will hang in the windows of Union Square businesses or be installed in outdoor locales. This is a juried exhibit; proposals will be reviewed by Somerville Arts Council staff and board members. Of special interest is work that is relatively large, bold and innovative art that will capture the attention of passersby while walking through Union Square and help convey the vibrant, innovative and artistic vibe of the area.

Research/Creation: This type of grant allows for a period of independent research at a key moment in the artistic practice of the applicant. The project must demonstrate the capacity to advance the artistic practice of the artist.

Production: This grant supports production costs of one or more works where there is at least one confirmed public presentation of the work(s) in a professional context. The project must demonstrate the capacity to advance the career of the artist.

Career Development: This grant supports the advancement of an artist's career through development of specific tools such as Web sites and portfolios; and/or the growth of a professional network with partners such as critics, curators, art dealers or publishers. Program Description

The Visual Arts Section of the Canada Council for the Arts provides a range of grants in recognition and support of the independent creative work of professional Canadian artists of all cultures. These grants are intended for artists working in the following art forms: visual arts including photography, fine craft and architecture, and independent criticism and curation. Artists, critics, curators and programmers working in the fields of new media and audio, film and video should apply under the Travel Grants to Media Arts Professionals program.

Travel Grants to Professional Artists contribute towards expenses incurred to travel to an event important to the artist's career. Except for independent critics and curators, travel related to research, development or creation of a visual arts project is not eligible under this program (unless created in the context of a residency).

The Six Points Fellowship (NYC)

The Six Points Fellowship supports individual artists in the New York area who want to develop new projects with a Jewish focus, theme or element. We believe that creative expression is essential to Jewish community, identity, and meaning and the Six Points Fellowship was created to support the artists who contribute to that process. The two-year fellowship program will provide 12 artists with a living stipend, financial project support, professional development workshops, and ongoing peer and professional-led learning opportunities. The fellowship will accept artists working in visual arts, music, and performing arts.

During the 2-year fellowship, artists will create and present their diverse projects to young audiences in the New York area, through programs such as live performances, audio recordings, and gallery events.

The two-year fellowship will provide: (1) Stipend — $25,000 over two years; (2) Project Grant – Up to $20,000 over two years; (3) 3 retreats, monthly salons, coaching, and mentorship.

Union Art Gallery at UWM | Invites Proposals

The University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee invites artist proposals for an upcoming exhibition about Marriage, Home & Family. In a political and social atmosphere boiling over with a mixture of religious convictions and civil rights legislation, the issue of what constitutes marriage and family is very relevant to contemporary discourse.

The Union Art Gallery at UWM invites artists to participate in a dialog on these issues through an exhibition that will consider these themes in a collection of small works that will be exhibited as one large "quilt" on the walls of the gallery. Any medium is acceptable, but each work must be submitted as a wall-mountable 2' x 2' square. Paintings, photographs, collages, textiles and 3-D works including those that extend out or down from the wall - will all be considered. When all work is submitted, these squares will be placed together to form a giant quilt on the walls of the gallery.

Additionally, the gallery is taking proposals for separate installation pieces to be created in four alcoves. These installations should also address this topic as a more investigated and conclusive aspect to this theme. If interested in exhibiting installation work in one of these four spaces, please submit a proposal with images or sketches. Four will be selected by the curator for exhibition.

Regional Emerging Artist Residency

Established in January 2000, the Regional Emerging Artist Residency is a program that provides emerging visual artists with time and space to explore their work in a supportive, thriving, artistic environment. One artist in his or her early professional career is chosen from a regional pool of applicants.

Artspace grants two 6-month residencies per year in Raleigh, NC. The residency includes a private, rent-free studio with 24-hour access. Artspace does NOT provide transportation or living quarters.

Each month residents will be presented to the Triangle community during Artspace's opening receptions and gallery walk. A fully supported exhibition of the resident's work will be presented in the studio during the final month of the residency.

The primary focus of the program is to provide an artist with time for independent work, but some participation in Artspace programs is expected. During the residency, resident artists must contribute to Artspace's educational programs and tours by working in their studios during business hours, especially during scheduled tours. Resident artists will also be expected to give a presentation, talk, and/or demonstration to the public during the 6-month period.


Artspace's Emerging Artist Residencies are available to promising artists in their formative years committed to advancing their own work and professional careers.
Artists must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents over 18 years of age and must reside in North Carolina.
Artists working in most mediums will be considered.
Artists working with toxic materials, hazardous machinery, etc. will not be considered due to limitations within the building.

The Artist In Residence program at Artspace is intended to provide an artist with a brief studio opportunity to work on a project of his/her choosing and to interact with the public and the artist community. It is also an opportunity for an artist to exhibit his/her work for 4 to 6 weeks immediately following the residency. During the residency period, the artist teaches 2 classes or workshops in conjunction with the Artspace Summer Arts Program (ASAP), and presents a short talk and discussion each week to the ASAP students. During the exhibition period, the artist presents a general lecture or demonstration about his/her own work or a related topic during the opening reception for his/her exhibition.

The Summer Artist Residency is available to established, dedicated, working artists.
Artists must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents over 18 years of age. Artists working in most mediums will be considered.

Artists must be ready to enjoy working in an open studio setting where the
public is able to interact with the artist during public hours.
Artists must work in the studio a minimum of 20 hours per week during public hours.

Proposals are being sought for exhibitions through 2008. Our galleries are dedicated to challenging exhibitions by both emerging and established artists.

Exhibitions run for 6-8 weeks with an opening reception being held during First Friday Gallery Walks. Most exhibits include a gallery talk or slide lecture presented by the artist. All exhibits are supported by press and insurance coverage and are free and open to the public. Works may be for sale however, Artspace does not place an emphasis on the sale of artwork but rather on the artistic quality of the work being presented. Artspace takes a small commission of 30% on works sold in our galleries.
